## How Do You Import Survey Results into Deck?

Export the survey from Typeform, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or Google Forms as a CSV and keep the native format. Upload it in Manage → CSV Uploads as a Survey, check each column's role and question type, and submit. Deck turns the free text answers into insights and themes and stores ratings and NPS scores as structured data.

## Why Old Survey Results Go Unread

Years of survey results sit in Typeform, Qualtrics, or SurveyMonkey exports that nobody opens again. The scores make it into a slide, but the free text answers, where customers explain why, never get read in full. Each new survey starts from zero instead of adding to what you already know.

## How Deck Analyzes Survey Exports Without Reformatting

Deck reads the native export from Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, Typeform, and Google Forms and detects the platform, so you do not reshape the file. Free text answers become insights and themes next to your other feedback. NPS, rating, yes or no, and select answers cost 0 credits, and the upload wizard shows the credit cost before you submit.

## How to Import Survey Results into Deck

### 1. Check What Deck Already Has

Open Manage → CSV Uploads and look for the same export, so you do not upload it twice. PostHog surveys sync through the PostHog integration, not a CSV.

### 2. Pick the Right CSV Type

Use Survey for a full export with one row per respondent and one column per question. Use NPS for a plain list of scores, and Feedback for a file of open comments only.

### 3. Prepare the File Without Changing Answers

Keep the native export and the email columns, which link each row to a contact. Never edit, translate, or summarize answers. Split a file over 10 MB by rows, with the full header block at the top of each part.

### 4. Upload and Classify the Columns

Click Upload CSV and choose the type. For a Survey, set each column's role to Question, Metadata, or Skip, then confirm the question types. The live credit counter shows the cost, and only free text questions use credits.

### 5. Review Invalid Rows and Submit

Read the validation summary and fix invalid rows in your source file if you need them. Then submit. The upload moves from Pending to Processing to Completed in the uploads table.

### 6. Read What Deck Found

If some rows failed, open the upload and click Retry Failed. Retried rows use credits again. Then open Visualize → Themes to see the largest themes after the import.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Which survey tools does Deck support?

Deck detects Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, Typeform, and Google Forms exports from the file structure. Other tools with a single header row work too. If Deck detects the wrong platform, you can still set each column's role yourself.

### How many credits does a survey import use?

Only free text answers use credits. The wizard estimates the cost as respondents times free text questions and shows it before you submit. NPS, rating, yes or no, and select questions cost 0 credits.

### Is there a file size limit?

Yes, 10 MB per file. Split a larger export by rows and put the full header block at the top of each part. Qualtrics uses 3 header rows and SurveyMonkey uses 2.

### What if some rows fail?

Open the upload in Manage → CSV Uploads and click Retry Failed. Only the failed rows run again, and they use credits again. Rows waiting for credits are different: Deck processes them once credits are available.

### Can I delete an upload?

Yes, from the ⋯ menu on the upload in Manage → CSV Uploads. The delete is permanent, removes the insights and theme links it created, and does not refund credits.

### Can my AI agent run this?

Yes. With Deck MCP connected, paste the prompt on this page. The agent checks what Deck already has, helps you pick the type and prepare the file, tracks processing, and reports the top themes. You upload the file in the Deck web app, because no MCP tool imports feedback. Reading NPS results through the agent needs Starter or higher.
